Skype-o-Something…
So it’s been a while since I’ve written here and let’s just say that I’ve been busy. We started a show, Sudo Make Me A Sandwich, a couple months back and I’ve been trying to figure a way to get the quality up without breaking the bank. There are some small things you can do, like invest in a quality microphone or headset. It doesn’t have to be anything too fancy, I just bought a decent looking Logitech headset from BestBuy and it already sounds much better.
We were also having the problem of incorporating guests into the show. I bring my cohost in via Skype and we wanted a way to be able to also bring in a couple more panelists if needed. Right away I thought of Leo Laporte’s Skypesaurus — maybe I even got the idea to do the show this way from him. He’s got a quite expensive setup though. Not only did he build four custom machines that are dedicated to Skype, but he’s also got the TriCaster, the IP audio mixer, and lots of bandwidth.

MacBook Battery gets more life?
Earlier today I noticed that iStatPro was saying that I only had 98% of my battery left after it finished charging. Now, this is to be expected. It’s hard to believe, but my MacBook is already 6 months old. I wanted to make sure that this was correct so I went looking for an application and found coconutBattery. CoconutBattery also said that I had 98% of my overall battery life remaining and that the battery was fully charged. When I was just looking at iStat i noticed that it said that the battery was at 100% health again, so I loaded up coconutBattery and not only was the battery back to full capacity, but it was higher than it started at, as you can see in this screenshot.

New Macbook
I finally got the new macbook. I ordered it last Friday. I got it at work today and had to wait until now to set it up. Setup was easy and I got right on the web to post this. So far I really like it. It’s really light. It seems pretty fast too, but I’ll have to see what it can do later. The keyboard seems like it types good. I’ll give a review after I’ve had it for a little while. For now it’s time to go home and finish setting up.
