Over a month and a half ago now, I decided I was going to buy a new computer. I immediately went to Newegg. When looking at processors I saw a review that referred me to the Intel E8400 processor. It was out of stock. I waited a couple weeks, but it still wasn’t in stock. I started looking to other places, thinking I could buy the rest of the parts that I had picked out from Newegg and just buy the processor from somewhere else.
Finally I found it at Bestbuy for Business. If you don’t know, it’s just Bestbuy, but it’s only online and they carry things that they might not have in their stores. It was a little more expensive, but they were the only place that had one so it was worth it.
I ordered the processor at the beginning of March. A week later I got an email that said it was on back order and wouldn’t be in until March 31. I checked Newegg and they still didn’t have it so I just decided to wait it out.
It got to be March 31 and still no word as to when the processor would be here. I waited a week and I finally couldn’t take it anymore. I had seen the processor on and off Newegg a few times. I waited until I saw it again, and ordered it right away. Then I called Bestbuy and canceled my order, or I that’s what I thought.
It was pretty easy. Call the 800 number, press a couple of numbers to get to a real person. He asks why I’m calling. I tell him I’d like to cancel my order. I give him the order number. He says, “Oh, I see it’s on back order. I’ll take care of that”. I say thank you. Problem Solved. Not.
I checked the order status to make sure it had been cancelled. “Product Status” says “In Progress”. Not a big deal, right? I mean maybe it’s not instant. So I just checked it again. It’s been a few days now. It still says “In Progress”. Why didn’t he cancel it?
